We can’t be the only ones who’ve wandered down to Monmouth Beach in Lyme Regis and peered through the windows of the Boat Building Academy, trying to catch a glimpse of what’s going on inside?
Well to celebrate turning 25, this Saturday 7th May the BBA throws open its doors to the public from 1100-1600 for their first ever Open Day. See boats and furniture made by students, get involved with live demonstrations and have a look around the workshop where over 180 boats have been built and launched from since the college was founded in 1997.
Money raised at the event will go towards the Academy’s bursary fund and the Ukraine Appeal. The BBA was granted charity status in January 2020, with one of its charitable aims to award bursaries to applicants who would otherwise be unable to fund their training. The bursary scheme aims to help the next generation of men and women learn the fundamental skills and crafts of boat building and furniture making.
